Yes, it took me hours to scan barcodes and also to manually enter book titles, authors and pictures of books - as sometimes a book is not found via google or has been out of print. Also there are books that are from the time before barcodes. But, I believe it was worth it.

This all started with a not-so-simple idea to convert our double garage into a huge school room/craft room/game room/reading room. But as with many lofty ideas it costs money, and not only that, it disrupts. So after long deliberations between the parents, we decided against it -much to the dismay of all, but especially the children.
HOWEVER a change has to be made as our current set-up is frustrating. Immensely frustrating! Space is limited. We have lived around the fact for over two years, but it is getting on my nerves and increasingly so. As I've put it to my one friend in a tongue in cheek way: Our Feng-shuay is broken.
Many a true word is spoken in jest.
We have many, many rectangles in our room and one circle and there is no flow in the spaces between them all. In fact if one chair is out of place there are no spaces, period.

At a glance there seem to be ample storage. I hate clutter. The rest of my house is rather uncluttered, with exception of my daughter's room and my husband's garage. But the study is also a clutter room. Why? It doesn't only store a myriad of books, but all kinds of supplies for arts and crafts, puzzles, games, albums and computer stuff. In a 3x6m room with 3 desks, a round table, a book case (or 3) and a cupboard, space is a precious commodity, and that is what we are going to attempt to reclaim some of it.
In between we are also trying to learn. And I believe it will get more challenging when we have to move to the dining room while also attempting the renovation ourselves. Yes, we are going to assemble the new addition bookcase, paint all the bookcases, sand, fill, wash, prime and paint the walls, put in proper flooring and then, move everything back in. My husband thinks 3 weeks, between the four of us, I think maybe six weeks. As we only have afternoons and weekend to do it all in and distractions are imminent.
Anyone offering their services? :)
I will keep you updated on the final look of the study - hopefully we can make a big difference and have some space to breathe.
